Big Ride - Day 10 - Missoula, MT to Avon, MT
Today started as what looked to be a very bad riding day: overcast skies with some good chances of thunderstorms. Luckily the weather held out and turned into one of my favorite riding days.
I started out the day doing pace lines with Darrell, Noah, and Steven. We made some great time catching and passing almost everyone. Because of some rain the night before the roads were pretty messy and people were getting flats left and right. Our pace line ended with Noah getting a flat. Shortly after getting back on the road we caught up with Ruben who also had a flat.
Pulled into Conoco rest stop for lunch and met up with Bob, Tony, Liz and others. Patty and Tracy, who were SAGed for the day were nice enough to treat us to hot cocoa, coffee, or tea, and made PB&J sandwiches.
The rest of the day I rode mostly with Letty, helping her with a flat, and just getting some 1 on 1 time to get to know each other. Near the end we got caught by Ed and Austin who leisurely rode along as we finished up the day. There were some great rolling hills at the end and got a nice cool down by riding through a sun shower for a mile or two. Since the planned mileage was 98.6 miles, I decided to ride past camp and get a century in. If you've come that far, why not hit the 100 mile marker.
